EDUCATION

ACE takes a firm stand that in order to practice human embryology in the United States, an individual must be certified at some level. Without board certification, an individual, regardless of the degree, is considered a resident/trainee and cannot practice embryology without direct supervision of a board certified individual.

Education includes residency training at the accredited site, skills testing, and meeting continued education requirements.

                                               CERTIFICATION LEVELS

ACE offers three levels of examination and will be offered based on certification level:

1. Embryologist (level IV clinical and non-clinical track)
2. Embryology Associate (level III)
3. Embryology Technologist (level II) and Graduate Embryologist (Level I)

Level of testing complexity will be more stringent as the certification level advances. The ACE board examinations will be administered by a third party accredited by ACE. The examination will be web-based and available to both U.S. residents and international embryology practitioners.

The ACE Education Committee will be responsible for:

           • Body of knowledge for Embryology
           • Examination questions for each level
           • Level of complexity for questions
           • Relevance of examination materials
           • Ensuring that examination materials represent current knowledge base
